WHAT IT IS • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapeutic approach grounded in the science of learning and behavior. This evidence-based treatment draws from extensive scientific studies and research to help us understand how behavior functions, how it is influenced by the environment, and how learning occurs. The primary objective of ABA therapy is to help your child develop essential skills, fostering greater independence and long-term success.
ABA therapy is widely recognized an evidence-based best practice treatment due to its proven effectiveness. Scientific studies have proven its usefulness, quality, and effectiveness that focuses on antecedents (the events or conditions that occur before a behavior) and consequences (the outcomes that follow a behavior), ABA helps identifify and reinforce positive behaviors while reducing challenging ones.
Our team of Behavior Therapists and Licensed Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) specialize in behavior modification to enhance mood and overall functioning. One key approach we use is positive reinforcement, where desired behaviors are encouraged by rewarding them. This technique, along with other methods of behavior analysis, can support your child in acquiring new skills and reducing problematic behaviors.
A BCBA will create a detailed function behavior assessment of your child’s abilities. We also take a preferences assessment of what your child likes and dislikes. We use the information to write specific treatment goals individualized to your child. Family goals and preferences are discussed and addressed. Treatment goals also consider the age and ability of your child.
